Meet Jessie DOSANJH for Council

Email

I am Jessie Dosanjh, and I am proud to call Delta my home for over 40 years. I have lived here, raised my family here, and dedicated my life to serving the Delta community.

I have a proven record of leadership and service. In 2018, I was first elected as a Delta School Trustee, where I worked tirelessly to support students and families across Delta. In 2022, history was made when I became one of the first people of colour elected to Delta City Council—bringing strong, inclusive leadership and a fresh, community-focused voice to City Hall.

For more than 25 years, I have been a highly respected high-performance track and field coach. I have coached countless elite athletes who have competed on national and international stages, including the Olympic Games. My impact, however, goes far beyond sport. Every day, I mentor Delta’s youth—helping them build confidence, discipline, leadership, and strong character. I believe our youth are the future of Delta, and I am committed to helping them succeed both on and off the field.

As a councillor, I have been a strong advocate for investing in parks, recreation programs, and sports field infrastructure. I understand that accessible recreation keeps youth engaged, supports families, promotes healthy living, and strengthens community safety. I will continue to fight for the resources Delta residents need to stay healthy and safe.

My dedication and leadership have earned recognition throughout British Columbia. I was named BC Athletics Executive of the Year in 2012 and 2015, and BC Athletics Coach of the Year in 2017.

In 2020, I was inducted into the BC Athletics Hall of Fame in recognition of my outstanding contributions and lifelong passion for athletics. My commitment to community service has also been recognized with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, as well as honours from Black Press Media, Desi Today’s, and Darpan Magazine.

I am committed to listening to residents, working collaboratively, and delivering real results for Delta families. My experience, strong community roots, and passion for public service continue to guide my leadership.

Delta is my home, and I am committed to building a stronger, healthier, safer, and more active community for everyone.

If you believe in stronger communities, healthier families, and brighter opportunities for our youth, I humbly ask for your support.
