Meet Ikjot SANDHU for Council

Email

Ikjot Sandhu has spent the last seven years doing one thing consistently: showing up for Delta’s families.

As a Child and Youth Care Worker in the Delta School District for nearly six years, she has supported students navigating mental health challenges, family hardship, and the weight of simply growing up.

Driven by a passion for supporting young women, she founded a Girls Group at her school, a safe space for girls to speak openly, support one another, and simply be themselves. Now in its fourth year, the group has reached over 60 young women.

Alongside her school district work, Ikjot has spent seven years with Yo Bro Yo Girl Youth Initiative, one of BC’s leading non-profits supporting and mentoring youth, and helped grow the North Delta wrestling program, building confidence and community both inside and outside of school.

Across both roles, she has worked directly with hundreds of Delta youth and their families.

As a realtor serving the Lower Mainland, she also understands the housing pressures facing first-time buyers, down sizers, low income housing supports and growing families trying to stay at home in the community they love.

Ikjot believes safe, thriving communities are built through investment in youth, in families, and in planning that keeps Delta liveable for the people who call it home.

A proud Tsawwassen resident, Ikjot is running on Mayor George Harvie’s Achieving for Delta slate because she believes Delta’s best decisions are trusted to those who work together and already know its people.
