Email

Nick Kanakos has served the community of Delta for more than 15 years as an elected Trustee on the Delta Board of Education. During his tenure, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to governance excellence, fiscal responsibility, and long-term strategic planning in support of student achievement and community well-being.

Throughout his service, Mr. Kanakos has worked collaboratively with fellow trustees, senior administration, municipal leaders, and provincial partners to ensure responsible stewardship of public resources. His focus has consistently been on maintaining balanced budgets, supporting safe and modern learning environments, and strengthening public confidence in local governance.

Mr. Kanakos played an active role in the planning and implementation of the North Delta track upgrades, a multi-million-dollar capital project delivered through cooperation among federal, provincial, municipal, and school district partners. The completed facility now serves students and the broader Delta community, reflecting his ability to help advance infrastructure initiatives that provide long-term public benefit.

In 2022, Mr. Kanakos was honoured to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Pin in recognition of his community service. He has also been acknowledged by the British Columbia School Trustees Association for his long-term service in public education governance.

Public service is a shared commitment within the Kanakos family. Mr. Kanakos and his wife, former Delta Councillor Jeannie Kanakos, have collectively dedicated more than two decades to community leadership and civic engagement in Delta.

A long-time resident of North Delta, Mr. Kanakos remains committed to principled leadership, thoughtful growth, responsible taxation, and policies that strengthen the quality of life for all Delta residents.
